Paul Dooley Scroll down for movie list. Biography from Leonard Maltin's Movie Encyclopedia:
Droopy-faced character actor, who began his career with the Second City comedy troupe and cocreated the acclaimed children's TV series "The Electric Company." Dooley has appeared in many films by director Robert Altman, starting with A Wedding (1978), and including A Perfect Couple (1979), Popeye (1980, as Wimpy), and O.C. & Stiggs (1987), but he's probably best remembered for his portrayals of comically beleaguered fathers in Breaking Away (1979, to Dennis Christopher) and Sixteen Candles (1983, to Molly Ringwald). He's also done many radio and TV commercials and series appearances, plying his trade with distinctive, rubber-faced aplomb. In 1988 he costarred with Phyllis Newman in the short-lived series "Coming of Age." Recent credits include Cooperstown (telefilm), My Boyfriend's Back and A Dangerous Woman (all 1993). | |
