Reviews
Mine: Great music, and fun performances all round, elevate a kind of stupid story.
Leonard Maltin/Plot synopsis: Energetic, imaginative filming of long-running Broadway show fantasizes 1950s life; spirited cast, clever ideas, and Patricia Birch's choreography make it fun. Hit songs (written for movie) include ``You're the One That I Want,'' ``Hopelessly Devoted To You,'' and title number, sung by Frankie Valli. Followed by a sequel. Panavision.

The thing about Grease is that no matter how seemingly petty the theme is, the movie stands the test of time everywhere. Can't beat a musical, when it comes down to it. This is a fun, wonderful movie with lots of music that people hum in elevators everywhere. I adored the movie version and the casting, John and Olivia - what a pair.

AHHHH I can't stand this movie!!!! It doesn't portray the 50's well -- it's all rather fake. The music would have been better off if they'd used authentic 50's songs (like American Graffiti)rather than making their weird wannabe pieces. The morals of the film, in all honesty, suck. And acting -- what acting? I'll admit that the choreography was excellent, and that's the only reason it gets half a star. The whole thing seems like it would have been more fun to participate in than it would be to watch.
