Mine: This is just a terrible movie. I really think that Adam Sandler has the ability to play this kind of role well. Here he is supposed to be a sweet innocent guy from the sticks, out of his depth in NYC. The problem here is that not a single character is believable, but there is nothing to suggest a farce (where the outlandishness might work). The only bright moments come from John Turturo and Steve Buschemi, who have some fun with their bizarre characters. Just terrible. More violent than fits the story. Tottaly predictable. I never figure out what is going to happen im movies, but here I saw it coming 2 days away. Bad, Bad, Bad.
Leonard Maltin/Plot synopsis: A sweet-natured, small-town guy inherits a controlling stake in a media conglomerate and begins to do business his way.

I found this silly, insipid movie to be highly entertaining. One doesn't look to this movie for great meaning or emotional depth. I thoroughly enjoyed it simply for its entertainment value and for nothing else. I found Adam Sandler's milquetoast, likeable guy-next-door to be fun, and to me it was worth it to see John Turturro being "beddy, beddy sneaky." His foot fetish was hilarious and everyone "underestimated his sneakiness." It had the sappy feel-good ending (bad guys get it and the good guys win) which is the basis of every cowboy movie ever made. I don't think this movie will win any Oscars, but I found it fun and great escapism entertainment!
