Reviews
Mine: The best of all the SNL sketch take off's. Great music. Strange story and characters. The entire thing really holds together. Very re-watchable.
Leonard Maltin/Plot synopsis: Engagingly nutty comedy about the title characters (deadpan musical performers introduced on TV's Saturday Night Live) trying to raise money to save their orphanage by reuniting their old band--and nearly destroying Chicago in the process. Off the wall from start to finish, with some fine music woven in, including wonderful numbers by Franklin and Calloway. Numerous cameos include Steven Spielberg, Frank Oz, Steve Lawrence, John Lee Hooker, Twiggy, and Paul Reubens (Pee-wee Herman). Followed by a sequel.
